The reason why no one remembers that announcement is mostly because it was the same day Toyota announced the Scion brand would be killed off. Now with that said, these are some of the best used cars that could ever fall into the market. A $70k car that was discounted down to a possible $50k when new and were purchased (leased) by people that were guaranteed not to put more than 10,000 miles a year on the things while keeping them pristine. These are now $30k cars with 30,000 miles that look phenomenal.

Buy a 3 year old Cadillac ELR for the same price as a new Chevrolet Volt?

In another two years (once 2nd owners have driven and gotten rid of these) we could see 60,000 mile examples going for $22k. By the way, the last generation Chevrolet Volts can be found for under $15k with 40,000 miles and up.

I commend GM for making it, but not for overpricing it. It’s a shame nothing ever came of it. And I rented a last gen Chevy Volt last year. A nice car for a jaunt to DC.

Honestly, I loved the look of the ELR. I thought that was a really modern design.

I saw one for the first time ever in the wild. I liked it, to be honest the Volt was one of the few GM cars in recent history I actually liked.

They should have made it a Buick, priced it accordingly as a more luxurious Prius and waited for the technology and market to mature before pushing it upstairs to Caddy.

It really is good looking, but it may have gotten a few more buyers with 2 more doors.

It needed more go - it could have been a Tesla that didn’t run out of juice.

Of all of GMs brands, how many lines of coke does it take for someone to sit back and say “let’s make the upgraded Volt a.... Buick? Nah... GMC? Nah... Cadillac! They’ll never realize it’s a 100% more expensive Volt!"
